27 Nakshatras - Full Nakshatra Names and Character Traits
What is Nakshatra?
Nakshatra or Constellation, derived from the Sanskrit words नक्षत्र (naks) meaning "sky" and शेत्र (shetra) meaning "region," refers to a region of the sky. These regions are divisions of 13 degrees 20 minutes each starting from zero Aries and ending at 30 degrees Pisces, collectively comprising 360 degrees. Each zodiac sign is further subdivided into four padas or quarters, each with a span of 3 degrees 20 minutes. The moon resides in each Nakshatra for one day as it moves approximately 13 degrees 20 minutes during that period.
Nakshatras are classified under three main groups: Deva (divine), Manusha (human), and Rakshasa (demonic). They are further divided based on gender, ruling deity, and gunas. The presence of planets and deities in these Nakshatras determines the true nature of an individual. Astrologers use these Nakshatras to find auspicious dates for cultural or religious events. The Nakshatra in which the moon is present at birth is called Janma Nakshatra.
